What ages can take private music lessons?
Children, teens and adults are all welcome to enroll in private music lessons. We generally do not take students younger than 2nd or 3rd grade. Certain instruments may require the student be older. If you're not sure, please email us at musicacademy@franklinps.net We will contact the instructor to see what minimum age they feel is appropriate for the instrument they teach.
Where are the lessons held?
Private music lessons take place in person at Franklin High School, 218 Oak Street, Franklin, MA. Families should enter through the Community / Voting entrance at the far left of the building near the gym. Press the doorbell in the far left corner and we will buzz you in. Turn right into the hallway. Our office is the 1st door on the right, Room 137. Students must check in and out of every lesson at the office.
Can parents/guardians wait inside or can they leave and come back?
Elementary school-age students (5th grade or below) must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian. The parent/guardian may go to class with the student, wait in the Lifelong Music Academy Office, or leave and come back. Students in 6th grade or above, or adults, may sign in and out themselves.
What do I do if I have to miss a lesson?
The office must be notified via email by 10 AM on the lesson day for any absence. Email: MusicAcademy@franklinps.net. No makeup lesson will be given for a lesson missed without proper email notification. IMPORTANT: An email to the instructor does not count as proper notification.
See IMPORTANT POLICIES for complete information about absences.
What is the payment policy?
See IMPORTANT POLICIES for complete payment information. Lessons will not be provided until payment is received.
What if my teacher misses a lesson?
All teacher absences are either made up or, in very rare cases of multiple absences, a deduction in tuition or a refund may be given.
