The String School offers group music lessons on violin, viola, cello and bass to students in grades 3-12. Classes are taught by professional musicians and educators, with additional support provided by Franklin High School music mentors. There will be two concerts, one in December 2022 and one in May 2023.
Instrument Rental Night: Thursday September 22nd, 4:30-7:30 PM, FHS Media Center. Use the main school entrance, not the voting/gym entrance.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:
Beginner I Strings (Mon., 3:30 PM and 4:30 PM, 45-min, $350):
Small group instruction for students entering grades 3, 4, or 5 with no prior playing experience. Cello and bass are offered at 3:30 PM. Violin and viola are offered at 3:30 PM and 4:30 PM. (NOTE: 6th grade beginners may sign up at their middle school for the middle school orchestra, which takes place during the school day.) Check out our introductory video for Beginners!
Beginner II Strings (Mon., 4:30 PM, 60-min, $375):
Small group instruction for students entering grades 4 or 5 with one year of prior playing experience.
Preparatory Orchestra (Mon., 5:30 PM, 60-min, $375):
Larger group instruction for students with three+ years of playing experience and who must be in a school day ensemble.
Repertory Orchestra (Mon., 5:30 PM, 60-min, $400):
Advanced Orchestra -- acceptance by audition only. Repertory Orchestra is for students in a school day ensemble. Weekly private music lessons are also strongly encouraged. In addition to the two String School concerts, the Repertory Orchestra also performs in the Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association (MICCA) Festival in April 2023. Prior to MICCA, the students will work with a guest clinician to receive feedback on their performance in preparation for the festival. Returning Repertory students may register without an audition. New students should not register until they have auditioned and been accepted into the orchestra. Auditions will take place on September 22nd at Franklin High School. Sign up for your audition HERE.
